05/14/2010 - Town Hall Held on Youth and Violence

Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth participated in the planning and production of at town hall on Youth and Violence.  The Chicago Bar Association's Interfaith Committee presented the town hall in partnership with WYCC-TV Channel 20.  The town hall was moderated by Bill Campbell, the host and executive producer of "Chicagoing" (ABC 7 Chicago) and president of Campbell Quest, and the event featured a panel of students, parents, law enforcement officials, court officials, and clergy.

05/13/2010 - Cluster Tutoring Wins Sun-Times Literacy Award
The Cluster Tutoring Program, based in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, is the recipient of the 2010 Sun-Times Literacy Award.  John Barron, publisher of the Sun-Times, awarded the $10,000 prize Thursday, May 13, at First United Church of Oak Park. Administered by Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth, the award has been presented for the last three years to a tutoring or mentoring program whose primary focus is literacy.



05/03/2010 - Judge Marovitz' Colleagues Support Lend-A-Hand
In honor of the late Judge Abraham Lincoln Marovitz, the Library of the United States Courts of the Seventh Circuit collected close to 200 books to support Lend-A-Hand and its programs.



03/19/2010 - Barristers Big Band Benefit Ball Raises $100,000

Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth raised close to $100,000 to benefit disadvantaged Chicago-area youth at the Ninth Annual Barristers Big Band Benefit Ball. The Ball was held Saturday, March 13, 2010.




02/26/2010 - Four-Year Mentoring Program Receives Thomas A. Demetrio Award of Excellence

The 2010 Thomas A. Demetrio Award of Excellence was awarded to PEAK (The Partnership to Educate & Advance Kids). PEAK provides mentoring to at-risk youth and scholarships for them to attend Holy Trinity High School.




01/27/2010 - Uptown Tutoring and Mentoring Program Honored with Award

Inspired Youth, a northside tutoring/mentoring program, was recognized Wednesday, January 27, by Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth  for its work on behalf of children in the Edgewater and Uptown neighborhoods.  Inspired Youth was honored with the Much Shelist Founders Award, a $7,000 award donated by the law firm Much Shelist Denenberg Ament & Rubenstein, P.C.

07/30/2009 - Horizons for Youth Students Attend Unique Equestrian Performance
Students from the Horizons for Youth scholarship and mentoring program attended Cavalia, a combination equestrian and acrobatic performance. The tickets were donated to Horizons for Youth through a partnership between the Alderman Bob Fioretti and Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth.
